KPA transformed an existing concrete building built in 1962 into a modern art gallery and corporate office. Located in West Hollywood, the original building served as a location for film production. The facade, along with the street frontage was completely modernized with a sleek curtain wall system and sliding glass gate for comfort and security of pedestrians, while also providing privacy and daylight for an incorporated open-air patio. The private outdoor patio includes a shallow reflective pool and Catalpa Bignonioides “nana” trees, all creating a tranquil and elegant outdoor oasis.

The long and linear facade perpendicular to the street was retained as the main entrance to the gallery with a new covered and recessed entry vestibule. The gallery facade was articulated with floor to ceiling glazing and large movable glass panels to expand the gallery to the outdoor environment.

Preservation of the original reinforced concrete structure within the gallery interior was essential. The original concrete columns and terrazzo flooring, with new concrete flooring and finishes create a truly inspirational environment – transforming the space into a memorable art gallery experience.
