Joybird is a custom-made furniture brand that specializes in creating unique mid-century modern pieces. This showroom, located in West Hollywood, CA was designed by KPA as a space to both feature the brand’s custom furniture and inspire the customer. The space is open and inviting, with high ceilings, ample natural light, lush greenery and bright pops of color. The biophilic feature walls throughout the store are aesthetic and eye catching, functioning as both artwork and for logo recognition. These lush wall pieces add visual interest to the showroom without distracting from the upholstered furnishings. The brightness of the space is grounded by textured charcoal walls, dark metal accents and natural wood finishes.
The showroom features 20 vignettes, separated by semi-transparent screens. This allows customers to experience furniture combinations in an intimate way, while retaining the open flow of the showroom’s design. The interactive customer experience is showcased in the “Influencer Studio” vignette, a space designed to be frequently re-imagined by designers and influencers. This feature connects customers to the brand and is used as an opportunity to inspire.
As a custom furniture brand, the textile library at the front of the store is a key feature, allowing shoppers and designers to explore fabric samples and discuss possibilities. Joybird’s collection of upholstery items are hung openly in a custom hanging display as a way to showcase their variety of textile options. The textile library allows customers to experience a design process that is usually only available for trade only showrooms.
